:output is the largest international competition for students of visual communication. Every year the book :output shows the most inspirational, interesting or extraordinary work from design universities and colleges all around world.

:output is a self-initiated project by the design studio and idea cradle › jung und pfeffer‹ with offices in Bremen and Amsterdam.

Each :output yearbook is accompanied by a CD ROM that contains the interactive / animated / filmed projects. For the :output 05 book, I was commissioned to design and develop an interface for the CD. An interactive demonstrator is available here:

The basic visual idea behind the interface is an open 3D space that allows all contributions to be viewed simultaneously without giving the impression of a specific order. The ›gravity point‹ of each contribution is the city of its origin.
