The workshop:
Our workshop - A intriguing and exciting exploration into interactive space. The chance to create your own interactive sketchbook. Think coding = sketching! You will be using Proce55ing, a new software environment, initiated by Ben Fry and Casey Reas. Proce55ing is a context for exploring the emerging conceptual space enabled by electronic media. It is an environment for learning the fundamentals of computer programming within the context of the electronic arts and it is an electronic sketchbook for developing ideas. we'd like the process of coding to be a lot more like sketching. The WATCH THIS workshop is very hands-on. It focuses on the "process" of creation rather than end results. You will use web-cam feeds directly from the conference or elsewhere on this planet and create your own piece of interaction or moving image. You become the observer, creator and servant to the content/information which you eventually release into the net free for your peers to watch. This website acts as a platform for you to prepare yourself for the event. Also it is a place that holds our results at the end of each day.

What you need to bring:
Apart from having a conference ticket, you can 'come as you are'. However, a certain degree of technical skills is required. You will have to make yourself familiar with Proce55ing beforehand. Also a basic knowledge of the concepts of computer programming will be vital. This is due to the short workshop time we’ve got available on each day.

Course material will shortly be available for download here.

What we provide:
The work environment, your own individual laptop, software, guidance and tips from us.

Proce55ing:
Proce55ing is an open project initiated by Ben Fry and Casey Reas. It is currently developed at the MIT Media Lab, UCLA, the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, and by a group of distributed developers across the Net.

Proce55ing is free to download and available for Mac, PC, and Linux. It is currently in a pre-release stage. Bug fixes are being made as we head toward a more complete "1.0" release.
